Start a Chapter at Your School
Bring mental health awareness, connection, and hope to your campus community.

You Can Make This Happen
Starting a Brave Step Chapter is simpler than you might think. If you care about mental health and want to make your school a more supportive place, you're ready.
You don't need to be an expert, have all the answers, or do it alone. You just need to care and be willing to take the first step.
Four Simple Steps
Gather Your Founding Team
Find 3-5 students who share your passion for mental health awareness. This will be your core leadership group. Then, identify a faculty advisor — a teacher, counselor, or administrator who can support your chapter and help navigate school policies.
Pro tip: Look for students with different strengths — organizers, communicators, artists, and social media experts all bring unique value.
Get School Approval
Work with your faculty advisor to present your chapter idea to school administration. Explain your mission: to create a student-led club focused on mental health awareness, peer support, and reducing stigma through education and connection.
What to emphasize: Your chapter focuses on awareness and prevention, not therapy. Activities include peer discussions, awareness campaigns, and connecting students with existing school resources.
Register Your Chapter with The Brave Step Foundation
Once you have school approval, reach out to The Brave Step Foundation to officially register your chapter. We'll provide resources, guidance, activity ideas, and connect you with other chapter leaders.

Start planning your first meeting, recruit members, and begin organizing activities. Start small and build momentum. Your first event doesn't have to be perfect — it just has to happen.
Remember: Every big movement starts with a single brave step. Your chapter will grow and evolve as you learn what works best for your school.
